Just as the New Jersey race promoters had expected, they have now been included in the F1 2014 draft calendar.
During the weekend of the Italian Grand Prix a draft calendar for the 2014 Formula One World Championship was released/leaked to the media.
It included 21 races following the expected news that India had been dropped from 2014 [scheduled to return in 2015], whilst Austria, Russia and Mexico had all been added.
A lot of people in the Formula One paddock remain sceptical about a race in New Jersey, despite it holding a contract for next season and reportedly currently having the funding in place.
However following the World Motor Sport Council meeting in Croatia last week, the latest draft calendar has swelled to a 22 race season, the biggest in Formula One history.
There do however remain big question marks over at least three of the races, as well as New Jersey being a doubt, the Mexican Grand Prix organisers have their own race on their hands to complete major upgrade work at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit.
The Russians have the little matter of hosting the Olympics as well as getting the circuit in Sochi up to standard, while Korea’s entry is also only provisional.
