British sportscar manufacturer Aston Martin have returned to Formula One with Red Bull Racing.
Over recent months Aston Martin have been regularly linked with a move into the sport with both Red Bull Racing and Force India.
But whilst a move alongside Mercedes-AMG never transpired [Daimler AG own 5% of Aston Martin and a technical partnership is in place between the two companies], Aston Martin have now agreed to become a innovation partner with RBR.
The move will see Aston Martin appear on the Red Bull Racing cars and a collaboration between Red Bull Racing and Aston Martin will see a new road car designed by Adrian Newey dubbed a ‘hyper-car’ and branded the AM-RB 001 (catchy).
‘This is a very exciting project for everyone at Red Bull Racing, Through this innovation partnership, the iconic Aston Martin logo will return to grand prix racing for the first time since 1960.’ Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner told motorsport.com.
‘It?s an incredible project and also realises a dream and vision long held by Adrian to design a road car, We are very much looking forward to what I?m certain will be a successful partnership.’
