Valtteri Bottas is targeting the 2017 Formula One World Championship title in his first season with Mercedes.
The 27-year-old Finn has enjoyed a solid four year career in Formula One to-date.
Driving for Williams, he has made 77 starts, finishing on the podium 9 times.
He’s proven that he is a consistent driver and moving to Mercedes, he believes he can beat new team-mate Lewis Hamilton and if Mercedes offer the dominance that they have over the past three seasons, then it could be him that takes the F1 crown.
‘I feel it is possible, Nico [Rosberg] showed beating Lewis is possible.
‘But I really respect what he has done with his career. He has so many poles, wins – three titles – and I still don’t have a race win. I have a lot to prove.’ Bottas told Sky Sports.
‘If the car is the strongest, yes [I can fight for the title], I’m not here to be in second place or worse. It is definitely a challenge, and going up against Lewis is always going to be a challenge.
‘But for me, it’s a massive opportunity. Everything is still ahead, so it’s going to be an exciting year.’
