Carlos Sainz Jr will drive for Red Bull Racing at the post-season Abu Dhabi test next week.
The Red Bull development had his first taste of Formula One at Silverstone in June 2013 and is a potential candidate to partner Max Verstappen at Toro Rosso in 2015.
The 20-year-old Spanish driver has had a successful year, winning the Formula Renault 3.5 Series and becoming the youngest ever driver to clinch that title.
Sainz Jr who has previously won races in Formula BMW Pacific & Europe, Formula Renault 2.0, British Formula Three, European Formula 3 and GP3 will replace outgoing quadruple Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel who will not take place in the test as he is set to leave the team at the end of the month.
Sainz Jr will complete the testing roles with Daniel Ricciardo.
