Some drivers may feel that speculation about their future is unwanted.

In regards to Felipe Massa at Ferrari, Michael Schumacher at Mercedes or Bruno Senna at Lotus, recent speculation has been somewhat negative and understandably could just act as an added level of pressure on them.

For drivers like Red Bull’s Mark Webber or McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, the speculation is easily brushed off, Webber recently denying claims he had signed a pre-contract agreement with Ferrari, while Hamilton remains tight lipped regarding his ongoing talks with McLaren.

But Force India driver Paul di Resta has admitted that he has actually quite enjoyed the speculation regarding his future.

‘Of course. You can’t help it and, if it’s true, I’m thankful. But the task at the moment is with Force India.’ di Resta told the BBC.

The British driver has been linked with a move to Ferrari and received the backing of former three time F1 World champion Jackie Stewart to partner Fernando Alonso at Ferrari in 2013.

While Mercedes Chief Executive Officer Nick Fry has recently said that Mercedes are keeping a close eye on di Resta as a possible replacement for Michael Schumacher.

The Force India driver continued: ‘There’s been good press, which is nice to hear and nice to see that people are watching and their eyes are open, It’s no secret that I want to be in a car that is winning races and winning world championships.

‘But I have a contract with Force India and that’s where my driving duties are committed to at present.’
