Ferrari team boss Maurizio Arrivabene is to set Kimi Raikkonen extra homework after his poor run in qualifying.
It’s just the latest bit of pressure being added to the Finn by his Ferrari team bosses.
Ferrari have already said that they will delay any potential new deal with Kimi Raikkonen in a bid to keep the Finn motivated.
Ferrari team boss Maurizio Arrivabene claims this will keep the 2007 Formula One World Champion focussed ahead of the remainder of the season.
But others in the paddock and media will just wonder if this is a ploy to keep Ferrari’s options open.
Ferrari were linked with a move for two-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton ahead of his contract extension with Mercedes and more recently they have been linked with a move for Williams driver Valtteri Bottas.
Rumours in the paddock suggest that Ferrari do want to extend Kimi’s stay with the team, but are concerned over his results.
?The problem of Kimi is qualifying, because during the race we saw that, at a certain point of the race, he had the same pace as Seb,? Arrivabene told Sky Sports.
He continued: ?Yes, he got some traffic. It?s also true he had a very big gap to the guys in front of him, If he?s going to improve in qualifying, I have no problem for the race because we know Kimi in the races is super and he can do a good job.
?If I have to give him some homework, he has to write 100 times ?I have to be better in qualifying?.?
