Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo has hit back at media gossip regarding Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen.

Following a poor half season back at Maranello, rumours have surfaced about the future of Kimi Raikkonen.

The Finn returned to Ferrari for 2014, the team where he took his one and only Formula One World Championship in 2007.

Raikkonen had impressed many since his return to the sport with Lotus and was clearly one of the fastest drivers on the grid, until he sat back into a Ferrari.

Now rumours have suggested that Ferrari could be getting impatient with Kimi once again and could be looking for a way to get him out of his contract and replaced.

At the same time, there are also rumours that Fernando Alonso wants to get out of Ferrari, with speculation linking him with a return to McLaren.

Talk in the paddock has suggested that Alonso is seeking a $50 million-a-year deal to remain at Ferrari or he’ll walk.

But Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo has rubbished the rumour-mill.

?We are lucky to have two great champions, who are working with the whole team to get back to being competitive again. Of course, as is the case every summer, there is unfounded gossip about alleged problems with senseless rumours bandied about, such as the ones relating to Alonso?s contract or those of drivers? salaries. We know that the summer heat always produces silly stories. Our drivers must now relax in order to return in top form. The season is still long and we need Fernando and Kimi to be in great shape. di Montezemolo told Ferrari’s website.
