The ?alledged illegal tyre testing with Pirelli? that had seen Mercedes investigated by FIA has taken another twist when it was announced that Ferrari were to be investigated too.

Ironically enough Ferrari had put in the protest against Mercedes at Monaco, they had found out that a 2013 car was used by Mercedes to assist Pirelli in a three-day test, while Ferrari say that they followed rules with their testing of the tyres with a car from 2011.

A statement released by FIA believes that questions need answers by Ferrari: ‘The FIA has asked Team Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 and Scuderia Ferrari Team, which have taken part in tyre tests in the 2013 season, to reply to a disciplinary inquiry in pursuance of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules.

‘This follows the stewards’ report from the Monaco Grand Prix and represents supplementary information required by the FIA in the light of the replies received from Pirelli, who were asked for clarifications on Tuesday 28 May.’

Ferrari had initially followed Red Bull in putting forward the complaint against Mercedes; with it claimed the ?illegal testing? gained them an ?unfair advantage.?

Didn’t Formula 1 used to about racing and the drivers? These days all too often it seems to be about anything but!
