Four-time Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel had already had a bad day following power issues during qualifying.

The German was knocked out of qualifying during Q1 and was set to start the Canadian Grand Prix in 15th place, however during Free Practice 3, the Ferrari driver overtook Roberto Merhi’s Marussia under a red flag.

Both drivers were summoned by the stewards following qualifying and Vettel was given a five-place grid penalty and three penalty points.

Vettel will not start the race last however as 2009 Formula One World Champion Jenson Button has been given permission to start the race after missing qualifying after an ERS fault in final practice.

Toro Rosso driver Max Verstappen will also start behind Vettel in 19th place following his combined 15-place grid drop due to his misdemeanour’s in Monaco and an engine change.
