Romain Grosjean will drop back five places on the grid following an unscheduled gearbox change.
Due to FIA regulations gearboxes are required to last five consecutive races and the change means an automatic five place grid penalty for Sunday’s race.
It was disappointing news as the Lotus driver impressed to qualify fourth in this evenings qualifying for the United States Grand Prix.
Meanwhile Sauber’s Sergio Perez avoided punishment following his collision with Marussia’s Charles Pic. The Mexican was called to the race stewards following Free Practice 3, but no action was taken.
