Esteban Gutierrez has joined Ferrari to be their test and reserve driver.
The 23-year-old Mexican was without a drive in Formula One for 2015 after losing his seat at Sauber.
After making his debut in 2013 at the season opener at the Australian Grand Prix, Gutierrez has made 38 starts in Formula One.
But at the end of the 2014 season he left Sauber, along with team-mate Adrian Sutil after the team decided for a complete change in their driver line-up, signing Marcus Ericsson from Caterham and handing former GP2 driver Felipe Nasr his first break in Formula One.
‘although young, has plenty of experience relating to the new generation of Formula 1 cars’.
‘I am sure that, with his experience, he will make an important contribution to the development work of the team in the simulator.’ New Ferrari team principal Maurizio Arrivabene told the BBC.
Whilst Gutierrez added: ‘It is for me the beginning of a new path for my future and I’m going to do my utmost to contribute to the achievement of the targets set by the Scuderia,’
