Lewis Hamilton has requested that Mercedes do not complete another reshuffle of mechanics as they did last year.

The German manufacturer claimed that they made the changes, which saw several key members of the Mercedes garage change allegiance between Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, so that it would help the development of several mechanics and engineers.

It was also hoped that it would prevent factions developing between the two fierce sides of the garage.

Unfortunately during the opening race weekends of the season it coincided with numerous mechanical issues which would eventually cost Hamilton the 2016 Formula One World Championship.

Understandably following the retirement of Nico Rosberg, the three-time Formula One World Champion is keen to avoid such a scenario again in 2017.

‘Next year I’ll speak to Toto [Wolff] and say ‘look, I don’t want my guys being changed’,’ Hamilton told Channel 4 as quoted by Sky Sports in December.

‘I want to keep all my engineers, there’s not a single person that needs to leave.

‘There’s at least one thing that they changed into the year which they didn’t do on the other side which needs to change, and I don’t know why they did that.

‘But otherwise, let’s go racing. I’m committed, hopefully they’re committed to me, I’m now their only world champion so hopefully they respect and appreciate that and the commitment that I’ll put into next year.’
