Unlike most drivers in Formula One you get a genuine feeling that Lewis Hamilton relishes competition.

And whilst the past three years have seen Hamilton entwined in an often bitter inter-team rivalry with former friend and team-mate Nico Rosberg, the thought of a battle team-to-team and former champion to former champion seems to really get the Brit excited.

Of course he will not overlook the challenge from Valterri Bottas on the other side of the garage, but the three-time former champion is ready for a toe-to-toe battle with Ferrari and former four-time champion Sebastian Vettel.

‘I think this year we’re seeing the best drivers at the top.

?Obviously it would be great to have Fernando [Alonso] up there, but it doesn?t look like that?s going to happen anytime soon.

?At least we have a great driver in Sebastian with his four titles, [who had] an incredible surge into Formula 1, continues to be a force and will continue to be for many years to come.

?I’m really grateful to have that fight with him, against Ferrari. It’s great.?

Lets hope that 2017 does offer that battle, both in terms of drivers and teams picking up results against each other, but also racing on track and not a parade.
