The father of three-time Formula One World Championship Lewis Hamilton has sent a warning shot to incoming Mercedes team-mate Valterri Bottas.
The Finn will make the switch from Williams to Mercedes for the 2017 Formula One World Champion after he replaced the retiring Nico Rosberg.
Rosberg announcement his retirement with immediate affect just days after his fortuitous title victory, where the German clinched the title with fewer race victories than Hamilton but having boasted a better reliability record throughout the season.
His retirement shocked the sport, with many believing the pressures of fighting Lewis Hamilton over the past three years had taken its toll on Rosberg.
Anthony Hamilton certainly appears to believe that to be the case.
‘Anybody who goes up against Lewis needs to have planned their career correctly because it could be a career-ending move when you go up against Lewis,’ he told Sky Sports.
Anthony Hamilton also believes that the 2008, 2014 and 2015 champion is actually getting better the older he gets.
Something that Bottas probably doesn’t want to hear.
‘I personally think, while he’s getting older and more mature, he’s still actually heading towards the prime of his career. So Lewis is going to be a force to be reckoned with this year.’
