2014 Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton is all set to hold fresh contract talks with Mercedes.
The two-time F1 title holder is entering the final season of his contract, the third year or a deal he signed after opting to leave McLaren.
The Brit has become the most successful British racing driver in history, surpassing the wins total amassed by 1992 Formula One World Champion Nigel Mansell.
In 2015 he will be aiming to win his third championship, something that will put him alongside the greats of the sport such as Sir Jackie Stewart and Hamilton’s idol Aryton Senna.
But whilst his future at Mercedes is thought to be secure, Hamilton is going into the talks with no formal representation having parted company with his management team.
I am my own man. I know my worth.’ he told the BBC.
‘I have read every one of my contracts in the past so I know what is and what can’t go and what I can try to get, It is going to be hard. Toto is a big businessman and is great at negotiating and he is up against a rookie, but I have good grounds for it.
‘I can’t say I am particularly excited about it, but I like that I am doing them on my own.
‘No-one’s helping. But of course I can reach out to people for advice.’
