The home of the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring is set to get a revamp over the next 18 months.
The Hungaroring is a firm favourite amongst the drivers, despite the lack of over taking opportunities around the track.
That’s because it’s design is similar to a go-kart track and the drivers love to attack a circuit in the current Formula One machinery.
But the current pits and grandstands have seen better days, but that is all about to change thanks to government funding.
‘We have a plan now, the government has decided. The minister has said it’s guaranteed, it’s 100 per cent sure. It was delayed, because we wanted to start in January, but this is government! Hungaroring President and CEO Zsolt Gyulay told motorsport.com.
‘At the end of August we’ll start making the architectural designs. My plan is that we can start the rebuild at the end of 2018 until 2019.
‘The first step is the outside, the stands, and the second one is inside the circuit, the pits, in 2020. Everything will be new. We will have more seats, like a modern stadium.’
