Renault’s Robert Kubica is undeterred by the long rehabilitation ahead of him following his rally crash earlier this month.

The 26-year-old suffered multiple fractures to his leg and arm and also suffered a partially severed right hand, following a crash in a Skoda Fabia whilst competing in the first stage of the Ronde di Andora rally in Italy.

‘I know I’m not in good shape, but I consider myself very lucky,’ Kubica was has been quoted in La Stampa. ‘I am facing a long and difficult rehabilitation, but I am not worried about that.’

Kubica remains in a rehabilitation centre following his move from intensive care earlier this week after he underwent his third and final operation.

He is expected to miss the entire 2011 season and his seat at Renault has been taken by German Nick Heidfeld.
