The Indian Grand Prix has been bumped from the 2014 FIA Formula One World Championship calendar.

While the headline will come as a disappointment to everyone who has worked so hard to bring Formula One to India, the news actually isn’t all that bad.

India wanted to bring the race forward to the early part of next year, however with the race being held as a late season race during this season, Formula One were not so keen on a quick return after just a few months.

So India has been dropped for 2014, but will return as one of the earlier races on the 2015 F1 schedule.

“[Holding races in late 2013 and early 2014] was too close. Therefore, after speaking to promoters, we think it is best not to have a race in 2014 and have one in 2015.” Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone told the media.

Ecclestone added: “We will have to club India with the four rounds in the Asia Pacific region.”
