Paddy Lowe has not only joined Williams, but he has also become a shareholder in the team.

Back in December on stage at the Autosport Awards, then Mercedes executive director Paddy Lowe was quoted by motorsport.com as saying: ?I?ve been with Mercedes for 22 years now, either working for them or with them, so I have got no reason to see why that should change. It is going very well.

He was discussing his contract situation with Mercedes where he added: ‘Toto and I had a discussion that, let?s wait until the end of the season and get that out of the way, and we will take it from there.?

Within a week Paddy Lowe was being sensationally tipped with a move to Williams to become the team boss there, with former Ferrari technical director James Allison making the move to Mercedes.

All of those cogs have now moved into place with Lowe formally joining Williams last week.

In a sense he has stuck to his word, he may not be working for Mercedes in 2017, but will still be working with them as a customer.

motorsport.com have also revealed that Lowe will become a shareholder in the team and has joined the board of directors alongside deputy team principal Claire Williams and Mike O’Driscoll.

Lowe went on to say: ?I?ve always had a deep respect for Williams ? my first team in Formula One.

‘It is a huge honour to return in this leadership position and to have the opportunity to become a shareholder. I am extremely motivated to play my part in bringing success back to the team.

‘The vision for the future set out by the Williams Board is powerful and has compelled me to join an organisation committed to building on its unique legacy and to reaching the pinnacle of Formula One once again.

‘I?m looking forward to this exciting new phase to my career working with Claire, Mike and Nick and with the rest of this great team ? especially Frank himself, who is one of the most committed ?racers? I know!?
