Felipe Massa is once again under pressure to improve his performances to keep his place at Ferrari.

Over the last couple of seasons the Brazilian driver has been written off on numerous occasions, talk of the paddock during 2012 was that he could even lose his drive mid-season after he failed to put in the performances expected of him.

However just when it looked like Ferrari were set to actively look for a new team-mate for Fernando Alonso, Massa’s results improved and with it his confidence grew and towards the end of the season he was regularly faster than Alonso, aiding the Spaniard’s title challenge and Ferrari’s challenge in the constructors championship.

But this season his poor form has returned.

He has stood on the podium this calendar year, but errors at Monaco and Germany highlight a worrying lack of concentration, although Ferrari of course tried to claim it was a mechanical fault in Monaco.

So what does the future hold for Massa?

‘The results will decide whether I stay here or move teams, The possibility to stay is there, but the most important thing is the results. Massa told Autosport Magazine.

‘I’m happy with the way I’m driving in terms of pace – in qualifying and race pace.

‘We just need to finish the races in the normal way and get consistency. In doing that, the results will be there.’

So will he be getting another chance at Ferrari for 2014 even if his performances do improve? ‘Until you sign the contract, you don’t know.’ the Brazilian concluded.
