Montreal has always been kind to Lewis Hamilton.

Ten years ago it was the track that provided the Brit with his maiden victory during his debut season in Formula One.

Ten years later, Hamilton won his sixth Canadian Grand Prix, cutting his deficit to championship leader Sebastian Vettel to 12 points.

Prior to the race Mercedes believed that they were behind Ferrari in pace and performance, but as the weekend progressed it got better and better for the Silver Arrows and a faultless performance from Hamilton blew Ferrari away.

Valtteri Bottas finished second to complete Mercedes first one-two finish of the 2017 season.

‘It has been an incredible weekend, I couldn’t be happier, firstly for the team.

‘To have come away from Monaco, really, everyone scratching their heads and wanting to work and pull together, and we did.

‘In these five years [with Mercedes], I’ve not seen the team pull so well together and work towards the same cause, to understand the car and come here and deliver what we delivered ? a great blow to Ferrari.
Hamilton told motorsport.com.
