Mercedes And Pirelli To Face FIA Tribunal

The ?secret tyre testing? that Mercedes were said to have undertook of Pirelli tyres in Barcelona could well have ?contravened? F1 regulations.

As a result both will face the FIA’s International Tribunal.

The reported three-day testing by Mercedes of these tyres following the Spanish Grand Prix came to light at Monaco, and having spent a couple of weeks collecting information and compiling a report the FIA believe that both could have a case to answer.

Innocence has always been maintained by both parties, with it said that permission was granted and it was within the permitted allowance, and certainly wasn’t ?secret? at all.

All F1 teams have also been ordered by the FIA to supply any information on tests carried out with Pirelli during this season.

Ferrari, one of the teams to lodge the complaint against Mercedes along with Red Bull, have been cleared of any wrong doing though as the tyre testing they undertook was completed with a car that was two-years-old.
