Just a week after speculation regarding his future at Red Bull Racing emerged, Christian Horner has signed a new contract with the team.

During the Austrian Grand Prix race weekend speculations suggested that Red Bull Racing were considering sacking Christian Horner.

The team have struggled this season and whilst the majority of the blame has been shifted on to engine partner Renault, some rumours suggested that Horner’s head was also on the block.

The rumour in the paddock became so strong over that weekend that an unnamed team principal even rang the Red Bull team principal ‘to commiserate’ him on losing his job….ahead of the race at the Red Bull Ring.

After the race Horner told the Times: ?I was shocked. I had no idea people were talking about me that way?

A week is a long time in motor racing, especially in Formula One and whilst enjoying the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Horner has revealed that he has signed a new long-term contract with Red Bull Racing.

?I recently signed an extension to my contract with Red Bull, I have a great relationship with Dietrich and my goal is very much on getting the team back to the situation we were in 18 months ago. he told Sky Sports.

On the rumours of his sacking he said: ‘It is total rubbish. The thing is not to put too much energy into things like that, but in the world we live in sometimes people from rival teams say things and they get picked up and then a story goes on the internet and it goes from there.
