Adrian Newey refuses to rule out possible Red Bull exit, as speculation links him with a move to Ferrari.

Red Bull Racings achievements and successes in recent years have been in part, a major part, down to chief technical officer of the Red Bull Racing Adrian Newey.

The 55-year-old British Formula One engineer, has enjoyed a successful career in motorsport, winning the Indy Car series and Indy 500 titles before a number of Formula World Championships with Williams, McLaren and Red Bull.

Overall he has been part of 80 Formula One Grand Prix victories and is considered the very best in his field.

Over the course of the Spanish Grand Prix weekend, numerous reports spread like wildfire throughout the paddock. Had he been approached by Ferrari and would he consider leaving England?

The benefit for a British engineer in Formula One is that switching teams doesn’t often extend your commute very far, with all the teams based in the same region.

But a move to Ferrari would include considerable upheaval and a move to Italy. For that reason alone many ruled out the move, but the man himself when given the opportunity refused to rule it out.

When asked by Sky Sports ahead of the race if he saw himself finishing his career with Red Bull Racing he said: ‘I don’t know. I need to think about it. We’re in the middle of the season and I’m just getting on with it.’

After the race in a separate interview he added: ‘At some point I am going to have to think about the future, but at the moment my focus is getting in front of the silver [Mercedes] cars’

When discussing the link with Ferrari, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said: ‘A lot of approaches are made to our staff, but he enjoys the environment at Red Bull and he has always said he would like to finish his career at Red Bull. The team have a great relationship with Adrian,’

‘For sure, the lure of Ferrari is always there, but there’s the politics and the pressure that goes with it and the fact is in Italy. Lots of us have been linked with Red Bull but so far none of us have gone.’
