Michael Schumacher remains ‘in the process’ of coming out of his medically-induced coma.

The seven-time Formula One World Champion has been in a coma since he suffered a severe head injury skiing on Sunday 29th December 2013.

Over the past couple of months, Schumacher has undergone two operations on his brain and missed his 45th birthday.

The former Jordan, Benetton, Ferrari and Mercedes driver has remained at the French hospital in Grenoble throughout his treatment.

Updates from the doctors at Grenoble have been sparse since early January when they confirmed the news of his two operations, the first was to ease the pressure on his brain, with the second procedure removing a large haematoma from the left-hand side of Schumacher’s brain.

Instead the job of updating his millions of fans around the world has fallen on the shoulders of Schumacher’s manager Sabine Kehm who has released brief statements, usually after media have speculated about his health.

‘Michael is still in the wake-up phase,’ the brief statement on Friday said.

The thoughts of VitalF1 remain with Schumacher and his family and friends.
