With the tyres not really living up to the expectation of them Pirelli had contemplated a change of tyre mid-season.

The rear tyres have caused a number of failures this year and as such the Italian outfit had mooted a change, however this was vetoed by some F1 teams with it thought ?competitiveness? would be compromised if there was a change.

An insistence has come from Pirelli that there are no safety concerns with the tyres but they felt that the failures seen this season reflected badly on them and that is why they suggested the change.

Due to the fact that there are no safety concerns Lotus, Ferrari and Force India all refused to agree to the change.
