Mexican driver Sergio Perez has been linked with a switch to either Renault or Williams for the 2017 Formula One World Championship.

At Renault it is thought that both Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer’s position for next season is under threat, with strong rumours linking 19-year-old Esteban Ocon with one of those race seats.

At Williams, Felipe Massa has announced his retirement, opening up a race seat there.

Sergio Perez would be a target for both teams, as he shows undoubted talent and also brings valuable sponsorship to the team he drives for.

But it would appear that whilst Sergio Perez does hold a contract with Force India for 2017, nothing is yet finalised.

‘There is nothing official just yet, But I hope very soon to be able to make it officially announced.’ Perez told motorsport.com during the Italian Grand Prix weekend.

It would seem the most likely outcome however is Perez remaining with his current team.

‘I see that very unlikely to change [leaving Force India], but you never know in this business.’
