Pirelli’s hard compound tyre is set to make its debut at the Spanish Grand Prix.
But do not expect to see it very often!
With one mandatory set given to each of the 22 drivers on the Formula One grid only Red Bull Racing, Force India, Sauber and Manor have selected one additional set for both drivers, with Renault’s Kevin Magnussen, Toro Rosso’s Carlos Sainz and Haas’ Romain Grosjean splitting their teams strategy.
The Mercedes’, Ferrari’s, Williams’ and McLaren’s opted for no additional sets.
That means that the teams all just have a slight variation on the amounts of sets that they have selected of the medium and soft tyre compounds.
The Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg both have 5 sets of medium and 7 sets of softs.
The Ferrari pair of Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen have gone for one less medium and one extra soft in comparison to Merc, whilst Williams have followed their engine partners lead and McLaren Honda have also followed suit.
