Kimi Raikkonen has confirmed that he will end his Formula One career driving for Ferrari.
But the 35-year-old refused to confirm when exactly that would be.
The Finn’s current contract which he signed following his departure from Lotus twelve months ago, runs until the end of the 2015 season.
But the 2007 Formula One World Champion has hinted that he could well sign a contract extension with Ferrari.
‘I have a contract for next year and probably for one more year, But I’m not a young guy anymore.
‘I want to do something more with my life than just Formula 1. I will finish my career in Ferrari. I never lost the passion. I will stop the day when I feel I don’t enjoy it anymore.’ Kimi told CNN as quoted by Sky Sports.
During his two-year sabbatical in 2010 and 2011, Raikkonen competed in Rallying and NASCAR and Kimi has confirmed that is something he would like to try and do again.
But could his passion for Formula One be extended following the impending arrival of Sebastian Vettel?
Four-time Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel has already announced his departure from Red Bull Racing at the end of the season.
It is fully expected, although not yet confirmed, that he will replace Fernando Alonso at Ferrari in 2015.
With Kimi claiming that Vettel is his only friend in F1 could that rejuvenate his career?
‘The guy I have most to do with outside of racing is Vettel, The rest I don’t really see as friends, I race against them.
?He’s just a normal guy and it’s an easy relationship.’
