The opening day washout at Mugello has forced Lotus to change their plans for the next couple of days testing.

The Lotus team had previously announced that after Jerome d’Ambrosio took the first day, that Kimi Raikkonen would take over the testing duties today, while Romain Grosjean would take the final day on Thursday.

That plan appeared to be a popular choice with Caterham, Force India and Williams all planning to do similar, splitting the work load between three drivers.

But with Tuesday’s rain, Lotus have now decided that Kimi will not run at all, leaving Grosjean to pull a double shift today and tomorrow.

‘We’ve opted for one driver for the next two days so we can make better use of the time after losing this afternoon’s running.’ Lotus trackside operations director Alan Permane told Autosport Magazine.

On Tuesday Jerome d’Ambrosio was placed fourth fastest with a time of 1minute 24.048s.
