Both Red Bull Racing cars of Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo have been disqualified following Abu Dhabi qualifying.

Following an investigation by the FIA race stewards, the FIA have decided that Red Bull Racing’s front wings on both cars were too flexible, which the FIA deemed as an aerodynamic advantage.

FIA technical Delegate Jo Bauer said: ‘when checking the front wing of car numbers 1 and 3 it was found that the front wing flaps were designed to flex under aerodynamic load’.

Both Vettel and Ricciardo can start the 2014 Formula One World Championship season finale on Sunday from the back of the grid. However the team will have to strengthen their front wing design.

In a statement following the decision Red Bull Racing said: ‘Following the decision of the Stewards regarding the front wings on both our cars (Car 1 and Car 3), we are disappointed that we have been singled out for a front wing deflection test when it is clear that other teams are interpreting the rules in a similar fashion.

‘The team accepts the decision of the Stewards and will start the race from the back of the grid.’
