2009 Formula One World Champion Jenson Button has backed former McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton in his battle against Nico Rosberg.
Button was discussing the incident that saw Nico Rosberg hit Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton during the second lap of the Belgian Grand Prix.
Hamilton had been leading the race at the time and was aiming to narrow the championship points gap to 4 points with his sixth victory of the season.
However Rosberg had other ideas, apparently deliberately opting to avoid a collision with his team-mate which resulting in Hamilton failing to score any points, whilst Rosberg finished second to extend his World Championship lead to 29 points.
‘I feel for Lewis, It’s a shame it’s not a cleaner fight. Button told the BBC.
‘I’ve always said the person who wins the world championship this year is the person who does the best job on the circuit, But that does not quite seem the way it is at the moment.
‘What has happened definitely adds spice to what is already a pretty spicy relationship.
