Nico Rosberg extended his Formula One World Championship lead over team-mate Lewis Hamilton on Sunday in Austria.
After the drama of Saturday qualifying, the grid had an unusual look about it on Sunday at the Red Bull Ring.
Neither Mercedes were on the front row, with Nico Rosberg third behind both Williams, whilst Lewis Hamilton was down in ninth having failed to set a time during Q3.
But despite the solid qualifying pace of Williams, they didn’t have the race pace to compete with Mercedes with Rosberg going on to take his third victory of the season after getting past Massa and Bottas following the pit-stops.
Meanwhile, team-mate Hamilton put in a battling drive to finish second.
The result lifts Rosberg onto 165 points, with Hamilton 29 points adrift.
In the constructors championship Mercedes have amassed 301 points, with Red Bull Racing in second place 158 points behind.
‘That was an amazing weekend for us [Mercedes] here. It was so great to be back again in Austria – for me, it felt almost like being at my home race in Germany! This is a great track, with amazing fans and at the end also with a great result for us. Rosberg told formula1.com.
‘I have to thank the team for a great car and a perfect strategy. We chose the aggressive way to pit earlier and to overtake the Williams that way and that worked out quite well. We had to look after our brakes, which was a big job for the whole race. Also this worked out perfectly for me. Before the weekend, my target was to extend the lead in the championship, which I achieved.

A great win for the young German and even better, a Williams on the podium.
