2016 Formula One World Championship leader Nico Rosberg has signed a new contract with Mercedes.
The German driver was out-of-contract at the end of the season and whilst Rosberg was keen to stay with the Silver Arrows and the team wanting to resign Rosberg, the problem was the length of the contract.
It is rumoured in the paddock that Mercedes wanted to sign a one-year deal and Rosberg wanted to sign a three-year deal, so with Gerhard Berger getting involved with contract negotiations the two sides have agreed on a compromised deal.
It now means that both Nico Rosberg and team-mate Lewis Hamilton have contracts that run until the end of the 2018 season.
