Rosberg signs new Mercedes deal

Nico Rosberg has signed a new deal with Mercedes which will see him remain with the team.

The German driver, who is currently in the midst of a fierce championship battle with team-mate Lewis Hamilton was set to be out-of-contract at the end of the season.

Despite rumours of Mercedes being interested in Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, Mercedes have agreed a new two-year-deal with the 28-year-old which will see the pairing of Rosberg and Hamilton continue for the foreseeable future.

‘We have long-term relationships with both our drivers.’ A Mercedes spokesman said to the BBC.
