Seven-time Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher is in a critical condition following a skiing accident.
The German’s management team have confirmed that he is currently in a coma and is receiving treatment following a severe head injury following the incident in Meribel, France.
The 44-year-old was skiing with his 14-year-old son and others in an off-piste area when he hit his head on a rock.
Schumacher’s spokeswoman said in a statement: “Michael fell on his head when he was on a private skiing trip in the French Alps.
“He was taken to hospital and is receiving professional medical attention. We ask for understanding that we cannot give out continuous information about his health.
“He was wearing a helmet and was not alone. No one else was involved in the fall.”
VitalF1 would like to wish the whole Schumacher family well at this worrying time.
