Silverstone, the home of Formula One in the UK has announced further expansion plans.

Following on from the successful track alterations and new pit and paddock complex, the British Racing Drivers’ Club are set to approach South Northants and Aylesbury Vale District Councils over plans to build a welcome centre, a museum of motor sport, an education campus, three hotels and a business and technology park.

‘This is the most important initiative that Silverstone has taken in its 60 year history.’ managing director of Silverstone Holdings Ltd Richard Phillips said to the BBC.

If the plans which could create 8,000 jobs are approved by the councils, then the BRDC will have to then find investors to fund the project.
