Former Force India driver Adrian Sutil has been found guilty of assaulting Lotus team co-owner Eric Lux.

The 29-year-old German driver was found guilty of bodily harm after the Munich court heard on Monday that Sutil had attacked Lux with a champagne glass during a fight in a Shanghai nightclub following last year’s Chinese Grand Prix.

Lux received neck injuries during the fight, however Sutil pleaded that he never intended to hurt Lux.

Sutil was given an 18-month suspended sentence by the court and was fined 200,000 euros, which will be given to charity.

‘Maybe I will take some time out now, Maybe I will do something completely different, think about things in peace.’ Sutil told reuters when leaving court after sentencing.

‘At least I shook Mr Lux’s hand, That’s a good thing.’
