Red Bull Racing’s sister team Toro Rosso have selected Carlos Sainz Jr for the 2015 Formula One World Championship season.

The 20-year-old Spaniard completes the teams driver line-up for next season alongside 17-year-old Max Verstappen.

At a combined age of just 37-years-old Toro Rosso will go into the season with two rookie drivers following the promotion of Daniil Kvyat to replace Sebastian Vettel at Red Bull and dropping Jean-Eric Vergne.

Sainz Jr boasts an impressive motor-sport pedigree. His father was a two-time World Rally Champion in 1990 and 1992 driving for Toyota, while in 2010 he won the Dakar Rally for Volkswagen.

Whilst Sainz Jr has already impressed in junior categories.

He has been a race winner in Formula BMW Europe, Formula BMW Pacific, Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, British Formula Three, Formula 3 Euro Series, European Formula 3 Championship and GP3 Series.

He has also won titles in Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup in 2011 and Formula Renault 3.5 Championship in 2014.

?I am really happy to have landed the drive with Scuderia Toro Rosso, Ever since I have been part of Red Bull?s Young Driver Programme, this has been my aim and I want to thank Red Bull for putting their faith in me. I have had a very successful season in World Series by Renault this year and now I am looking forward to taking the step up to Formula One.

?I tested for a day with Toro Rosso last year and I liked the atmosphere in the team. In the next few months I will be working hard on my preparation, ready to get in the cockpit in Jerez for the first test of next year. It will be nice to make my ?official? debut as a Formula One driver in my home country!?
