World Championship leader Sebastian Vettel has been stripped of his times in qualifying and will start tomorrows Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from last place.

The Red Bull driver was penalised for breaking article 6.6.2 of the Sporting Regulations after stopping his car following qualifying.

It was the same regulation that McLaren and Lewis Hamilton fell foul of earlier in the season following qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix.

With the car found to be under-weight, Red Bull were unable to ensure that a one litre sample of fuel could be given if required which breaks FIA regulations.

The news provides a fantastic twist in the 2012 Formula One World Championship picture. Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso who sits just 13 points behind Vettel will now move up the grid to sixth place, with the Spaniard now hopeful he can close the gap on Vettel.

Should be a brilliant watch, he should still get back into the points from there, so can Alonso really take advantage.
