The 2013 Formula One grid has been made up of five Formula One World Champions.

Over the past nine years, five drivers have claimed the most prestigious title in motor sport.

Drivers wise, the current Formula One grid is rich with talent, with Sebastian Vettel, Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso all capable of slotting into any era of F1 and being successful.

But Sebastian Vettel has risen to the top and dominated the sport on route to four F1 championships.

‘I’m speechless – I don’t know what to say. It’s one of the best days of my life so far, It has been incredible to race some of the best drivers F1 has ever had.’ Vettel told the BBC.

Vettel added: ‘It is a very strong field and to get the numbers and statistics we have is unbelievable.’

Of course some will argue that the Red Bull Racing car itself is the main reason for much of Sebastian Vettel’s success, but the drivers themselves would never take anything away from one of their peers successes.

While 2007 Formula One World Champion Kimi Raikkonen didn’t speak much to the media following the Indian Grand Prix, the other previous title holders were quick to praise the new Formula One quadruple World Champion.

‘Sebastian is ahead because he does the best job, The best one wins.’ 2005 and 2006 F1 Champ Fernando Alonso told Sky Sports.

‘Seb is a great driver, Anyone who wins four world titles has done a fantastic job and will be remembered in the sport as one of the greats.’ 2009 Formula One World Champion Jenson Button added.

2008 F1 title holder Lewis Hamilton said: ‘He’s now in the legendary books, he already was. I’m really happy for him.

‘To do it at such a young age – I think he’s 26 – is pretty phenomenal. He’s broken quite a few records these past few years.
