The feel of the new 2016 Ferrari has pleased Sebastian Vettel.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise as both Vettel and team-mate Kimi Raikkonen are both drivers who prefer to have a good front end of the car.
If they have a better feel at the front, they are not feeling like they are fighting the car all the time.
One huge development in this area for Ferrari has been a new pushrod front suspension system, similar to that which Red Bull Racing had during Vettel’s time with them.
‘The first impression is very positive. Generally it feels like a step up.
‘I had good confidence straight away and I felt at home so that’s usually a good sign. But we know as well there’s a lot of work ahead of us still. Vettel told motorsport.com.
As well as developments on Ferrari’s power-unit, including a new layout, Ferrari have also developed a narrower gearbox, whilst on the Aerodynamics side Ferrari have designed the car to have a shorter nose, lower sidepods and a move to a narrower ?coke bottle? rear end.
Vettel added: ‘There’s is plenty of stuff we need to get on top of, which is normal for a new car.’
But the early signs are that the high hopes for Ferrari in 2016 appear to be on schedule and not misguided.
