Current quadruple Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel is to leave Red Bull Racing at the end of the current season.

Over the years there has been many rumours linking Vettel with the exit door at Red Bull Racing and it was seemed the German’s destiny that he would eventually link up with Ferrari.

Well this is no longer a rumour or conjecture, this has been confirmed by Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner following Vettel’s decision to use his get-out clause.

The team boss of four-time Formula One constructors world champions Red Bull confirmed the news on Saturday.

?Seb?s been with Red Bull for 15 years as a junior driver and as a Formula 1 driver, so he?s obviously been giving this a great deal of thought, He informed us last night and obviously had his reasoning behind that. I don?t think he?d taken the decision lightly and was obviously very emotional about it.’ Horner told Sky Sports.

?But if it?s his desire to be somewhere else, then it?s not right for us to stand in his path.

?We?ve achieved a great deal together and we?ve enjoyed a lot of success. We?ve had some great times ? on and off track ? and we?ll look back on those with great fondness and affection.

?As of January 1st he?ll be a competitor. He?ll be a Ferrari driver.?

A driver swap for Fernando Alonso is not expected, the Spaniard has been heavily linked with a move to McLaren, whilst Red Bull are expected to promote Daniil Kvyat from sister team Toro Rosso.
