Toro Rosso are a team that are under pressure to improve on last season.
Whilst the other mid-table to back of the grid runners are just trying to improve year on year and build up their team, Toro Rosso hold a different mindset.
It’s not about finding sponsorship for them, or attempting a balancing act between the option of a pay driver who brings in additional revenue over perhaps a more experienced driver with lesser backing.
Toro Rosso are in Formula One to serve one purpose, they are their as the sister team to Red Bull, developing drivers such as Sebastian Vettel.
But in 2012 the team underperformed and they didn’t give Australian Daniel Ricciardo and France’s Jean-Eric Vergne the best platform to perform.
In 2013 however the team are targeting a place in the top six of the constructors championship.
‘The team has worked with a very high level of effort to come up with a great car and meet the high level of expectations.’ Toro Rosso Team boss Franz Tost told the BBC.
‘Both drivers did a really good job last year, and I’m convinced if we supply them with a good car they’ll come up with surprise results.’
As for the car itself, the broken nose is gone and the back end of the car looks a lot cleaner, which could provide an overall better aerodynamic package.
