Mark Webber has spent the entire 2011 season in the shadow of his Red Bull team mate Sebastian Vettel.

The defending World champion has been in dominating form this year and Webber has struggled to keep the pace.

Webber is 77 points behind Vettel in the championship battle, but the Australian is determined to step out of his team-mates shadow this weekend and claim the victory.

‘Off the back of strong weekends in Canada and Valencia, I’m looking forward to challenging hard for the victory,’ Webber told the BBC.

‘No reason why I can’t. I’ll do all I can to do it. Feeling confident.’

Last season the British Grand Prix was one of the highlights of Webber’s season.

After the controversial decision by the team to give the new front wing to Vettel rather than Webber, the Australian went on to take victory and declared ‘Great job guys – not bad for a number two driver.’
