What was Sebastian to do? Fly?

As Sebastian Vettel spun off into the tyre barrier at Russia, a swear word filled tirade was played over the world feed from the on board radio.

According to Ferrari team principal Maurizio Arrivabene by the time he returned to the garage, driving his own scooter back to the paddock, the former four-time Formula One World Champion had calmed down somewhat.

‘Everybody can understand that he was far from being happy! He took a DNF in a race situation just recently ? and now a second time, and it has nothing to do with him. That is not really something that makes for a happy face. Sebastian wants to win, and if something gets in your way that is frustrating. We talked calmly when he came into the garage ? but calm didn’t mean happy! Arrivabene told formula1.com.

But whilst he was calm, he wasn’t calm enough to let the incident slide and he made a personal call to the Red Bull Racing pit-wall to have a word with former boss Christian Horner.

After all this was the second race in succession that the German has had an altercation with Daniil Kvyat.

In China, Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel wrongfully pointed an accusing finger at Red Bull?s Daniil Kvyat.

The Russian embarrassed Vettel on that occasion, but in Russia, Vettel was well within his rights to have an issue with Kvyat.

The Red Bull Racing driver punted Vettel off the track not once, but twice!

Heading into the second corner Kvyat carried too much pace and bumped into the back of Vettel causing contact in front of him.

To make a bad situation worse, Kvyat then crashed into the back of Vettel for a second time in the third corner, spinning him off into the tyre wall forcing the German to retire and bring out a safety car.

After the race Daniil Kvyat claimed that Sebastian Vettel had slowing down massively going into turn 3 and that was the reason why they collided again.

‘…of course – Kvyat hit him! What was Sebastian to do? Fly? Arrivabene added.

‘If we look at the images it is quite clear. Sebastian told me that he touched him one time ? just at the beginning, and just a bit ? but the second impact was quit hard. And if you touch someone one time and he slows down it does not mean that you have to touch him another time. We don’t need telemetry to understand this. From my first day I have always promised that I will be transparent and honest. Last time in China I did not complain to Kvyat; I said to myself that he did his job. This time I can’t find any excuse for what happened.
