Williams hopeful over upgrade

2015 has probably been a slight disappointment for Williams.

They might not have won a Grand Prix last season, but overall they were considered the best of the rest behind Mercedes.

This season however with the performance gap that Ferrari have made, Williams have failed to stand on the podium so far in 2015.

One of the problems for Williams has been to get the best out of Pirelli?s soft tyre, an area that especially in hot temperatures Ferrari have excelled in.

Valtteri Bottas believes that some upgrades to improve the performance on the softer compound tyre would make a big step forward for the team going into the European races of the campaign.

?Now we could at least run the two options [in Bahrain], but we are still degrading on the option tyre especially much quicker than Mercedes and Ferrari. That?s where the big difference is coming from,? Bottas said to Sky Sports.

?With the prime it was slightly better. We are looking into it and we also need to try to create more downforce in the car. But there is three weeks to Barcelona, so we have plenty of times to look at things and fix them.

?We do need updates to help it. If we are lacking traction or downforce in general, it?s also much more difficult for the tyres. It?s a combination of many things we need to do a bit better to keep the tyres alive.?
